“We are so obsessed with doing that we have no time and no imagination left for being. As a result, men are valued not for what they are but for what they do or what they have – for their usefulness.” Thomas Merton
This quote reminded me to slow down, to stop obsessing about what I am doing with my life, what I need to do next. I need to stop living for the future so much, and live in the moment. To cherish every day, to just stop and sit quietly, to just breathe.
I have found myself getting a little overwhelmed during the past couple weeks. Worrying about the baby that is coming, if we have enough money, if we are saving enough, fretting over little things that in the big picture really do not matter. It will all work out. I need to learn to let go and have faith. God knows what he is doing.
This image is of a small tree in Oklahoma, sits in a field by itself, but it may not be there for much longer. Looks like a neighborhood will soon be going in.
